Transport Certification Australia (TCA) delivers assurance services that give governments and industry confidence in the integrity of data collected from vehicles and vehicle‑related technologies, strengthening decision‑making and improving road outcomes.
As a subsidiary of Austroads (the collective of Australian and New Zealand transport agencies, representing all levels of government), TCA is responsible for:
- Delivering telematics related services that enable improved productivity, safety and sustainability outcomes.
- Providing assurance on transport technologies and data by enabling structured, transparent interactions between governments, technology providers and end‑users, ensuring the integrity and responsible use of collected data.
- Developing and promoting national practices that promote consistency and standardisation, while preserving the flexibility needed to accommodate varied applications of data derived from vehicles and vehicle‑related technologies.
- Offering professional advice to Austroads member organisations and to national and international bodies.
TCA administers the Australian and New Zealand implementation of ISO 15638: Framework for Collaborative Telematics Applications for Regulated Commercial Freight Vehicles (TARV) and its legislative responsibilities under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
