Austroads Technical Specification ATS 4220 sets out the requirements for the supply and installation of wire rope safety barrier (WRSB) systems.
ATS 4220 may be used for new installations and for the repair or replacement of existing WRSB systems.
The following are excluded from this Specification:
- design of the WRSB system;
- steel rail safety barrier systems (refer to ATS 4210);
- concrete safety barriers (refer to ATS 4230);
- temporary safety barriers used during the construction of roadworks or bridgeworks; and
- balustrades, pedestrian fences or other fences adjacent to roads.
