Austroads Guidance to Impact Award 2027

The Austroads Guidance to Impact Award recognises local councils and individuals who have delivered outstanding projects to improve roads, traffic, transport, and community outcomes in a local government area using Austroads material.

All local government or local government alliance projects are eligible to submit an entry, so long as they include a demonstrable application of Austroads guidance to improve:

  • Road safety
  • Active travel, network and traffic planning
  • Sustainability and climate resilience
  • Infrastructure performance and innovation
  • Community outcomes.

Eligibility

  • Australian local governments
  • Regional or joint council alliances
  • Projects using any current Austroads material or tools.
  • Ongoing projects or projects with a future completion date (beyond award submission) are eligible so long as they satisfy the evidence requirements.
  • Must demonstrate operational implementation.
  • Demonstrable application of Austroads guidance to improve:
    • Road safety;
    • Active travel, network and traffic planning;
    • Sustainability and climate resilience;
    • Infrastructure performance and innovation; or
    • Community outcomes.
  • Narrative description up to 1000 words. The description should explain:
    • The need or problem the project aimed to address.
    • Which Austroads’ material, guidance or tools were used during the project, and how they were used.
    • Outline measurable outcomes and/or long-lasting and positive impact for the council and community through:
      • metrics (before/after where available)
      • qualitative outcomes (community, safety, efficiency).
  • Minimum of three (3) high-quality supporting photographs*
  • (Optional) additional supporting documents such as charts, graphs, tables, images, videos, and links.
  • Councils may submit multiple, distinct projects.
  • Submissions remain private during intake and judging.
  • By entering the competition, the entrant consents to Austroads disclosing their submission, and any part of that entry or supporting materials supplied with entries may be used for future promotional purposes of the Austroads Guidance to Impact Award.
  • Entrants agree to provide Austroads additional photos (as separate jpeg/png files), and/or video footage of the project submitted for the Austroads Guidance to Impact Award. These photos and videos, and information in the Award submission may be used for promotional purposes.
