Austroads Technical Specification ATS 5310 sets out the requirements for the supply, fabrication, handling and placement of steel used for the reinforcement of concrete (‘reinforcing steel’). Two types of reinforcing steel are covered:

  1. carbon reinforcing steel, as described in AS/NZS 4671; and
  2. stainless reinforcing steel, as described in BS 6744.

The reinforcing steel must be supplied and installed in accordance with the drawings, AS 5100.5 and this Specification.

The technical specification can also be downloaded as a Word document.

Edition 1.0 was superseded by Edition 1.1 in July 2025.
