Austroads Technical Specification ATS 5453 sets out the requirements for site management when painting a new steel bridge or repainting an existing one. It includes requirements for:
- a) the design of the containment system and scaffolding;
- b) safety and environmental management;
- c) inspection and compliance of structures and hazardous management containment systems; and
- d) management and disposal of any hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead and hexavalent chromium.
