Austroads has been recognised as a 5-Star Employer of Choice for 2025 by Human Resources Director (HRD) Magazine, a leading publication for HR professionals in Australia and New Zealand.
The award celebrates organisations that demonstrate excellence across workplace culture, employee engagement, leadership, and development. Winners are selected based on both employer submissions and anonymous employee feedback.
Geoff Allan, Chief Executive of Austroads, said the recognition reflected the commitment of the entire organisation.
“This award belongs to our people,” Dr Allan said. “It reflects the dedication, professionalism, and deep expertise our staff bring to their work every day. We’re proud of the culture we’ve built – one that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and mutual respect.”
“We also recognise that there is always more to do. This award is a moment to acknowledge progress, and a prompt to keep listening to our people and strengthening the way we work together.”
Austroads is the collective of the Australian and New Zealand transport agencies, responsible for delivering high-quality research, guidance, and capability-building to support safe and efficient road and transport networks.
The HRD 5-Star Employer of Choice list is published annually and highlights organisations that achieve high levels of employee satisfaction and demonstrate a strong commitment to creating outstanding workplace environments.

This same commitment to excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement also underpins Austroads’ approach to transparency and accountability. Austroads’ Annual Report 2023-24 has been recognised with a Silver Award in the most recent Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA).
The ARA is administered by an independent not-for-profit organisation, with judging based on criteria benchmarked against global best practices and comparable organisations. The awards focus on raising awareness about the importance of complete, transparent, and timely disclosure of information to stakeholders and supporting organisations in maintaining excellence in their reporting practices.
“We are proud to receive this Silver Award, which recognises the quality and transparency of our reporting and reflects the high standard of work across the organisation,” said Geoff.
“This achievement highlights our ongoing commitment to providing a clear and comprehensive account of our performance to our member agencies and the wider community.”
