Austroads has published two new technical specifications and associated test method for guide posts, providing consistent guidance for the supply, installation and testing of steel, plastic and timber guide posts, including delineators. The publications support durability, performance and safety outcomes for roadside infrastructure.
“Guide posts are a critical roadside safety asset, particularly in low-light conditions where clear delineation is essential for road users,” said Tara Manning Austroads’ Technical Specifications Manager. “By strengthening consistency across supply, installation practices and performance testing, the specifications and test method will support safer roadsides, improved asset reliability and more effective long-term maintenance outcomes.”
