Austroads has been recognised for its leadership in national data outcomes, with the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) named as a winner of the 2026 Qlik ANZ Regional Data Impact Award for Excellence in Providing Better Outcomes with Data.
The award recognises organisations that use data to deliver meaningful community benefits, improve decision-making and create better outcomes for governments, industry and the public.
Managed by Austroads on behalf of Australian and New Zealand road agencies, NEVDIS is a critical national data-sharing platform that enables the secure exchange of vehicle and driver information across jurisdictions. The system underpins services and activities that help keep communities safe, support the efficient regulation of vehicles and drivers, and assist law enforcement agencies. It also enables vehicle history and consumer protection services such as Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) checks, which help buyers identify whether a used vehicle has money owing on it, has been written off, or has been reported stolen.
Austroads Chief Data and Technology Officer Matthew Brunsdon said the award recognised the significant public value created through collaboration between jurisdictions.

NEVDIS creates a shared source of trusted information that supports governments, industry and authorised organisations to access consistent and timely data when it is needed. The system helps improve transparency, supports evidence-based policy and operational decisions, and enables more efficient service delivery across jurisdictions.
