Resilient Transport 2026, a forum focused on helping transport agencies strengthen the ability of transport infrastructure and services to anticipate, withstand, adapt to and recover from disruption, will be held on Wednesday 18 November 2026 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia.
Co-hosted by Austroads and the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport, the forum will bring together transport agencies, industry, researchers and policymakers from across Australia and New Zealand to examine how resilience is being applied across the transport lifecycle.
Resilient Transport 2026 builds on seminars hosted with Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads in 2023 and Transport for NSW in 2025, as well as Austroads' ongoing work to develop resilience frameworks, metrics, prioritisation approaches and risk assessment methods.
While these initiatives have strengthened the evidence base and improved understanding of climate risks, a key challenge remains: translating resilience knowledge into investment decisions, funded projects and delivery outcomes. The 2026 seminar will focus on addressing this challenge by exploring practical approaches to implementation, valuation, prioritisation and funding.
Through practical case studies, expert presentations and panel discussions, participants will explore how resilience can be integrated into planning, policy, design, delivery, asset management, operations, emergency response and recovery.
The program will examine:
- the consequences of climate risk and disruption for transport infrastructure and services
- progress made in developing resilience frameworks, metrics, prioritisation methods and risk assessment approaches
- practical examples of resilience being applied across the transport lifecycle
- opportunities to embed resilience into investment decisions and overcome barriers to implementation
- approaches to valuing, prioritising and funding resilience initiatives.
