Investigating New Performance Testing of Granular Materials

The project will determine the viability of developing a performance-based specification for the use of granular materials in pavement design and construction. This will allow a targeted approach to develop the specifications through laboratory and field assessment to establish suitable specification limits. A better understanding of the performance expectations of various materials and treatments will allow a broader uptake of alternative materials. The direct benefit of this phase is to establish confidence in the suitability and practicality of the approach to be used in developing the performance basis.
