Bridge assessment is one of the vital tasks carried out by Main Roads WA for approving heavy vehicle movements over bridges on public roads. The adoption of modified compression field theory by AS 5100.5 Bridge design - Concrete code has made the load capacity calculation an iterative process. This paper presents detailed bridge deck assessment scenarios derived from AS 5100.5 and demonstrates the application of these scenarios for a Tee-Roff simply supported bridge deck to calculate load rating factors. The proposed methodology is adopted by Main Roads WA within its Bridge Branch Design Information Manual.
