The METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link (TCL) project is building Perth’s first rail cross-route connector line, joining and serving communities between the existing Armadale and Mandurah passenger rail lines. This involves modification and duplication of 3 km of single-track railway between existing Beckenham and Thornlie Stations, plus 14.5 km of new dual track railway between Thornlie and Cockburn Central Stations.
The project involves extensive multi-disciplinary design and construction works in tightly constrained existing passenger and freight rail corridors - with relocations of approximately 12 km of existing dual track freight rail and 3 km of existing passenger rail to fit the new TCL alignment.
