Austroads Test Methods

The Austroads Test Methods are a comprehensive suite of test methods that consist of construction or manufacturing quality verification test methods (such as proof rolling), laboratory based material tests, selection and sampling tests, material properties methods, equipment calibration, and test method validations.

For the asset management suite, there is a collection of test methods and corresponding specifications that can be used for testing and/or service testing requests to inform asset management planning.

There are five collections of Austroads test methods:

  1. Asset Management Test Methods (Series AGAM/T)​
  2. Pavement Test Methods:
    • Aggregate Test Methods (Series 001-099)
    • Binders Test Methods (Series 100-199)
    • Bituminous Mixes Test Methods (Series 200-299)
    • Pavement Investigation Test Methods (Series 400-499)
    • Equipment Test Methods (Series 500-599)
    • Cemented Materials Test Methods (Series 600-699)
  3. Bridge Materials (Series 700-799)
  4. Roadside Furniture and Miscellaneous Test Methods (Series 800-899)
  5. Soils and Granular Pavement Materials Test Methods (Series 900-999)

Austroads Technical Specifications

The Austroads Technical Specifications are a comprehensive suite of specifications for the construction of Roads and Bridges.

The specifications specify requirements for the supply of materials, treatments and infrastructure.

They are published in a numerical sequence relating to their subject matter:

  1. General (Series 1000)
  2. Earthworks & Stormwater (Series 2000)
  3. Pavements (Series 3000)
  4. Traffic Facilities and Incidental Construction (Series 4000)
  5. Bridgeworks (Series 5000).
