Austroads Technical Specification ATS 3445 sets out the requirements for the removal of materials from road pavements by cold milling. This may also be referred to as ‘cold planing’. Cold milling may be carried out for the purposes of pavement reconstruction, shape correction, surface retexturing and improvement of ride quality.
