Austroads Technical Specification ATS 4550 sets out the requirements for the supply of pits and covers used for telecommunications and electrical cabling. It covers the supply of:
- pits supplied with integral covers; and
- covers, risers and collars that are supplied independently of the pits.
ATS 4550 does not cover cast-in-place reinforced concrete pits or the supply of precast reinforced concrete pits (refer to ATS 5325).
Refer to ATS 4560 for the requirements for the installation of the pits and covers.
