Proof rolling is the process of assessing the strength, stiffness and uniformity of material by moving a heavy plant over the surface and observing the resultant deflection/deformation (if any). It may be undertaken on either an earthworks layer or a pavement layer.

This test method sets out the process for undertaking proof rolling.
